Swimming Lessons Β· Wirral
Here’s what we believe makes the difference β and why so many Wirral families choose to swim with us term after term.
What makes a great swimming lesson?
We believe the best swimming lessons happen when children feel safe, supported, and genuinely seen by their teacher. Small classes mean every child gets individual attention. Private pools mean a calm, focused environment. Teachers in the water mean hands-on guidance that builds confidence faster.
At Hayley’s Swimming School, these aren’t just nice-to-haves β they’re the foundation of everything we do. As a result, many of our families stay with us for years, and children who arrive nervous leave as confident, capable swimmers.

Six reasons parents choose Hayley’s
A teacher with 30 years experience
Hayley has taught swimming on the Wirral for over 30 years. She is a Swim England Level 2 qualified teacher, has tutored the STA swim teacher qualification, and is a qualified primary school teacher. Furthermore, she completed a solo English Channel crossing in 2019 β so she knows what it takes to swim.
Maximum 4 children per class
Our classes are capped at just 4 children per teacher. As a result, every child gets genuine individual attention in every lesson β not just when the teacher happens to come along the lane. This is the single biggest reason children progress faster with us than in larger classes.
Privately hired pools
At every venue, we hire the pool exclusively for our lessons. There are no public swimmers sharing the water, no crowded lanes, and no distractions. Consequently, children β especially beginners β build confidence much faster in a calm, focused environment.
Teachers in the water
For beginner and baby lessons, our teachers get in the water with your child. This hands-on approach means they can physically guide, support, and demonstrate in a way that poolside teaching simply cannot match. Moreover, it builds trust between teacher and child much more quickly.
Consistent faces, term after term
Our teachers stay with the same children across terms. This continuity means your child builds a genuine relationship with their teacher, which in turn leads to better progress and greater confidence. In addition, it means the teacher truly knows where each child is in their development.
Three convenient venues
With lessons at Calday Pool in West Kirby, Stanley School in Pensby, and Meadowside in Woodchurch, there’s a venue convenient for most families across the Wirral. Additionally, we offer lessons across seven days a week, making it easier to find a slot that fits your family’s routine.
What parents say
My daughter used to see swimming lessons as a chore but now loves them. Highly professional in teaching methods but most importantly Hayley makes swimming really fun.
He started a complete beginner and the progress he’s made is unbelievable. Love how they are in the pool next to him, showing and teaching him what to do. Wouldn’t go anywhere else!
Amazing staff who really helped my son enjoy the water and feel safe and confident. Something I really struggled with. Cannot thank them enough.
Swim Star accredited swim school
Hayley’s Swimming School holds Swim Star accreditation from the STA β an independent recognition of the quality of our teaching. Moreover, all teachers hold enhanced DBS checks and are qualified to Level 2 or above through the STA or Swim England. You can trust that your child is in safe, expert hands.
