Tier 3 restrictions in Merseyside

We’re relieved to say swimming lessons will be able to continue while Merseyside is in Tier 3 restrictions. Although leisure centres have been asked to close, there is an exemption for under-18s activities. We’ve been in touch with Sport England and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport; both have verified that under-18 activities include swimming lessons. We’ve now confirmed with our venues that they are happy for us to continue under the Tier 3 Restrictions.

” Sport Team colleagues have confirmed that there is an exemption in tier 3 for under 18s, so you can continue to remain open so long as you continue to follow all of the guidelines as you have done.”

Communication with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport

Getting our green light to continue operating wasn’t easy yesterday and involved a lot of phoning and emailing from 8 am yesterday (Tuesday 14th October 2020). We’d like to say a huge thank you to Lucy from Sport England, who made sure swimming lessons were mentioned in a meeting with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Wirral Council were also providing us support throughout yesterday and will hopefully will be getting something more official out later in the week that mentions swimming lessons as good to continue.

Thank you for your understanding, support and patience over the last few days, we really are grateful.

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
